Hear from some of our degree program graduates…

The people I have met and the things I have learned at NCI, I will carry with me forever.

I see NCI as a gateway to first-time students who are looking for affordable education and a pathway for second-career students like myself, looking to pursue ‘a ship that we thought had sailed.’ It’s never too late to become what we might have been.

NCI has allowed me to accomplish my dream of completing a bachelor’s degree here at home. I have four children and going away to a traditional college campus was impossible for me. Thank you, NCI for being a blessing to me and our community.

Being able to attend college locally at NCI to obtain my Bachelor’s degree in social work has been a dream come true. Many doors have opened for me, and I’ve made a few amazing friends along the way!

My experience at Longwood University through New College Institute was amazing because I have gained inspiring and supportive friends who share the same passion to become influential change agents in this community. I am grateful for the educational opportunity that NCI has given me and the doors that they have opened.

NCI is priceless to me. I have met people here that I will never forget. NCI is a big part of our community and without this great partnership with Longwood, I may not have been able to earn my degree.

I have really enjoyed my time at NCI. I am so thankful to have had the chance to stay local yet still be able to get a quality education. NCI has opened many doors for me and has given me the opportunity to make many friendships along the way.

If it weren’t for NCI, I wouldn’t have been able to earn a degree from Longwood University. My social work degree will allow me to be a better advocate for any person with mental health issues.

NCI gave me the opportunity to get my bachelor’s degree in my own community. I am proud to be part of NCI’s legacy.
Hear from some of our internship participants…

I am glad to have had a summer internship at Reynolds Homestead – conveniently located near my home in Patrick County and related to my college major.

I learned how to apply what I studied in school to understand, communicate, and interact with kids through my internship with the Boys & Girls Club.

What I liked the most about my internship was making the residents of Kings Grant Retirement Community smile!

I received exposure to various career paths in the field of law while working at Patrick County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.

My internship at the Boys & Girls Club of the Blue Ridge has shown me how work gets done in an office, and how various people coordinate with one another to accomplish tasks.

I believe my internship at Carter Bank & Trust was a wise investment in my future.
