NCI Intern Puts Learning into Practice
Rachel Scott spent her summer interning under Amanda Broome, Patrick Henry Community College’s (PHCC) Public Relations Specialist. In this role, Rachel has been involved with nearly all aspects of marketing and promotion at PHCC, including film work, photography, advertising design, social media marketing, strategic planning, and social media analytics.
Specific projects with which Rachel has been involved include the promotion of the Patriot Player’s production of The Little Mermaid and promotion of PHCC’s new SEED program, which allows high school students to attend PHCC tuition-free.
In addition to boosting her resume, Rachel gained valuable workplace skills and experiences that will help her develop her career.
“It was very cool to take what I’ve learned in the classroom and put it into practice,” said Rachel.
Rachel is a communications major at Radford University and expects to graduate in 2020.
“Rachel has been an incredible intern and has produced great content, especially for someone who is just getting started and learning many new things this summer. It was exciting to show her what I do and hopefully help her get a better vision for her future,” shared Amanda.
